A Fashionable Fundraising Idea!
If you've ever adopted a pet from an animal adoption center, you probably understand the feeling of "who rescued who?"... which is why we so desperately wanted to help when the SPCA of Tompkins County (TCSPCA) put out the S.O.S. call following the recent acquisition of over 100 animals from a single home. The Buddy Tag, a solid sterling silver charm embossed with the TCSPCA's adorable logo, is a fashionable fundraiser of sorts! And we're thrilled that the TCSPCA is as excited about our Buddy Tags as we are! After all, where would we be without our buddies? One of our favorite special events here at the Jewelbox is the Gem Roundtable - or roundtables, plural - as we've hosted a quite a few now... and we enjoy seeing the new selections as much as you delight in playing with them!
If you've never attended on of our Gem Roundtables, here's a summary of sorts: Micky's dear friend Judith Whitehead is a gem hunter, collector, and a longtime member of the American Gem Trade Association. She is also our dynamic, knowledgeable, and engaging "special guest" for a few select weekends a year. On these weekends, we create an opportunity for you to purchase unique and exciting gemstones in an intimate and socially relaxing setting. We call these events "Gem Roundtables".
The Friday evening - or Sunday afternoon - that unfolds includes lively conversation, many "oooohs" and "ahhhhs", and a great opportunity to discover the beauty and affordability of creating a custom design of your very own.
For each Gem Roundtable event, Judith selects over a hundred exciting gems and gemstone sets for us to present to you. We serve good food and good wine (or mimosas if you choose the Sunday Brunch) and you get to feast on a banquet of beautiful jewels! Gem prices range from about $200 to $20,000 so there is a wide variety from which to choose. From fossilized sand dollars and designer-cut drusy quartz to paraiba tourmaline and flawless rubies, you might have a tough time choosing which gems you would like to purchase... which is why bringing a spouse or close friend is encouraged.
It's entertaining, educational, and hands-on fun! But we do limit the seating to 20 people per event, so if you are interesting in attending, reserve your seat(s) ASAP by calling us directly or emailing

Fresh from Tucson
The Tucson Gem and Mineral ShowTM has been called "the world's largest treasure hunt", and every year we anxiously await Micky's return from the show to see what treasures she's secured. This year has found us awash in absolutely gorgeous goodies... from cool drusy quartz rings for only $125 each (pictured here) to mouthwatering amber to fascinatingly faceted tanzanite and topaz, there is a whole lot of sparkle goin' on here at the store.
Of course we will try to put everything on the site - some of it is already on Facebook (hint hint, be a fan) - but if you are in the vicinity of Ithaca and its neighboring communities, you should definitely stop in and see it for yourself.
Honestly, we dare you not to say "wow".

How excited are we to be carrying Amy Brill's goodies?!
Her Totally Brill sweaters are world famous, her Journey Jewels and one-of-a-kind amulets are fun fun fun, and Amy herself is... well... you just want to pack her up and take her with you! Since we can't do that as it would be kidnapping, we've chosen to just grace our store with her "presents".
